5th grade B Science Project (Invertebrates)

La semana pasada tuve la oportunidad de presenciar las exposiciones de Science de este grupo.
Fue realmente una sorpresa ver cómo explicaban su trabajo hablando inglés.
Quiero recalcar, que hablar español frente a un público es muy difícil, ahora, imagínense que hacerlo en inglés es el doble de difícil.
Como siempre, es muy importante recalcar, que el apoyo de ustedes, como padres que prestan a sus hijos es palpable. Todos los trabajos son muy pero muy creativos.

5th grade. Lemon Pie

En días anteriores los alumnos de 5to grado A. Elaboraron una rica receta. Se basaron en una receta e instrucciones totalmente en inglés. ¡Gracias a Miss Laura por todo su empeño y a todos ustedes por participar con los ingredientes!

Mollusck 5th grade

En inglés americano se escribe MOLLUSK y en inglés británico se escribe MOLLUSC.
Los niños de 5th B en la materia de Science están aprendiendo sobre los moluscos.



Los moluscos (Mollusca, del latín molluscum "blando") forman uno de los grandes filos del reino animal. Son invertebrados de cuerpo blando, desnudo o protegido por una concha. Los moluscos son los invertebrados más numerosos después de los artrópodos, e incluyen formas tan conocidas como las almejas, ostras, calamares, pulpos, babosas y una gran diversidad de caracoles, tanto marinos como terrestres.
Se calcula que puede existir cerca 100.000 especies vivientes, y 35.000 especies extintas, ya que los moluscos tienen una larga historia geológica, que abarca desde el Cámbrico Inferior hasta la actualidad.1 Los moluscos colonizan prácticamente todos los ambientes, desde las grandes alturas a más de 3.000 m sobre el nivel del mar hasta profundidades oceánicas de más de 5.000 m de profundidad, en las aguas polares o tropicales y suelen ser elementos comunes de los litorales de todo el mundo.
Son animales de cuerpo blando (divididos en cabeza, masa visceral y pie) con tres características únicas en el reino animal por las cuales se identifican:
Un pie muscular.
Una concha calcárea secretada por un integumento subyacente llamado manto, en ocasiones ausente.
Un órgano de alimentación llamado rádula (formada por hileras de dientes quitinosos curvos).
